#1451 Aegirine
Black, Large sxl (Miniature)
Mount Maloso, Zomba, MALAWI
2000
Locality: Mount Maloso, Zomba, Malawi Weight: 3.9 grams Because of the exceptional rarity of this mineral, many books don't even mention it. However, the 'Mineralogical Record' in Volume 25, Jan-Feb, 1994, did publish an in-depth article on this renowned 1991 find, including a description of the numerous even-rarer associated minerals. Another fine treatise can be found in 'Lapis' April 1999 (in German). The bottom line in both of these articles is that these are the finest aegirine crystals found to this date anywhere on the earth. Metaphysically, Melody ('Love is in the Earth') says aegirine "can assist one in following personal convictions and morality and... provides the strength for one to be true to oneself". I personally selected each one of these crystals individually for best form and condition. Most are terminated on both ends, usually with multiple terminations.
